The paintings from the I FOUND WINGS Collection are inspired by my favourite feathered creatures - and also by my loved ones. Those who are no longer with me and those who have just arrived. Old + young. Timely + before it was time. These ideas + sentiments have amplified in me a very basic need to honour and appreciate the urgency of living fearlessly and with great love.
This is a series of paintings that I
completed from October 1 - December 1, 2009. There was an art event on December 2 where the paintings were
officially unveiled to the public. If you can, imagine an Harry-Potter-esque setting
with high ceilings and dark wood, leather lounge chairs and a darkness
permeated only by spotlights on these paintings. The online collection doesn't do it justice.
This is where you can browse and buy the I FOUND WINGS collection of paintings. For more information contact dan@kalbarteski.com.
Thank you for helping me find my wings,

Kal, this is overwhelming. What an amazing turn of events and the most beautiful collection I have been fortunate to have seen. Your work is stunning. I've spent the last hour crying over the beauty of your work. Great job! I wish I could have been there for the real thing!

K.B.: I sure enjoyed your "I found wings" show. Thanks for inviting the family. The three pelicans against the large grey background evoked memories from this summer's canoe trip in Kaz' big canoe - just Laney, Zach and I. We argued from the time we got in the boat at the perimeter highway until halfway to the park. Just after peace was established, we encountered a group of pelicans gliding close over the river.
Of course, Joseph and Kaz are brilliant - the two show stoppers.
Well done, busy one!
