When I was growing up, my aunt amazed me with her knowledge of birds. She had bird guide books, bird feeders, binoculars, and she knew what the ate, where they wintered and why they did what they did. She was an expert in my mind. I was impressed and enamoured. She was the only one in my family who seemed to have a particular appreciation for birds and although I wouldn’t either until I was an adult - her voice is clear in my memory describing the behaviours of birds. When I think about my Aunt Maryanne - I see Blue Jays, bird seeds and books. Thank you Aunty Maryanne for instilling in me a love for birds.
