I started reading about the declining numbers of bluebirds in Manitoba and I became sad. Rarely seen anymore. I was touched and motivated by the people who have been fighting for the bluebird's safety, numbers and environment. Here and all over the world. In nature and in symbolism. In my mind, this painting is a smokey spotlight in a blues club. It is the power of now and the importance of fighting for what we believe in. This painting is supposed to be a subtle tribute to jazz, to song and to a beautiful little bird that is in the hearts of many.
