To me, a pelican is an omen of good tidings. For every instance in my life when the outlook seemed grim - a pelican swoops in at the most enchanting moment to reassure me that things will be fine. Things will be good, in fact. It sits perfectly well with me then - that three pelicans must mean things will be three times as good.
This pelican brief is flying calmly over a storm of brushstrokes. When I started painting for this bird collection I was trying to find balance and harmony in being a new mom - but, also being a breathing + needing artist. Guilt is a thunderous animal in a rough storm. I was startled to see three large pelicans flying over my house one fall morning - leading me to believe that even though it seemed tough and never-ending - things would be alright.
