This is Mavis (click to enlarge). She's a hawk owl. I met a real live hawk owl in person at a 2006 Charity event and I was hooked. These birds are very small - about the size of your head (which I thought was amazing). She was watching the world and seemed to hold the world in a grasp of infinite wisdom... Which is why I call her Mavis.

Kal, your site and painting of "Mavis" was introduced to me by Maggie Milz (above). Mavis was my mom and your description of the hawk owl describes my mom. I was very curious how you came up with that name. I have the information from Maggie about purchasing a print. Thank you. MMarlette
