In 2007 I started a collection of pieces called TINY ART. These pieces are
all small. They are created in mixed media on all types of substrates.
They are for sale: $100 for the original OR $30 for matte photographic reproductions.
This is Tiny Art 126. (click to enlarge). Well, hello 2010. This piece represents a bit of a change for me. Actually - it represents a huge departure from how I normally roll. By this time last year - I had completed just over 100 new pieces of art and here it is the middle of August and I have only created a handful. And by handful I mean three. Life has been busy and those changes have been beautiful and full and demanding and investing. It has been the art of balance + nurture + life. Do what needs to be done for the greatest good. Sigh... That makes me sad. Sad in the same way I felt crafting up this set of antlers (that I later used as a still life for this practice image)... They were once the crown of a graceful + living animal... And as beautiful as they were in life - they are beautiful in death. I see that now. I love them. I know the hunter of this deer. I know that every piece of the deer was put to good use - to feed + nurture his own family. I feel like using this set of antlers as a sculpture in our home is an extension of that. Extension of a life that nurtured many. I feel like the beginning of this year was my call to nurture the life at hand. I feel rusty and neglected. I feel a heaviness in the absence of creating art. Sad. And beautiful.

woah...I used to read your blog all the time a couple of years ago, then I stopped reading any blogs for awhile, then I came back to it...apparently your blog has been in my Google Reader all of this time, which is why I just noticed your new post.
I really love your art - at the time I started reading your blog I was struggling to come into my own definition of "artist" and your blog was one that inspired me to keep working towards that. I'm really glad you haven't disappeared completely.
This piece is beautiful. It's hard to keep up with your art when you have so much else going on to stay on top of; I hope you don't feel guilty about it. But I also hope we get to see some more art in the future :)
