Tiny Art 42

Kbtinyart_42_2008 This is Tiny Art 42. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by Tiny Art  31 and all of the response to the 'pink lady'... I felt overwhelmed for her and for everyone of us - because it was obvious that there where A LOT OF WOMEN who feel or felt insecure about our bodies. This is for those of us who feel unattractive and even though we know better - we want to look more beautiful.  It's a constant battle - at least it certainly is for me. I don't look like a super model... I never will. And some days I don't even want to... I love this orange lady - she's very, very beautiful just the way she is.

Kbtinyart_41_2008   This is Tiny Art 41. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by cork. Really. I bought a bunch of cork sheets about a month ago with the intention of using pencil crayons - BUT I saw first hand how difficult that was and that it did not have the effect I wanted. SO. I brought out the cork and painted a little, used my new labeler and tried to find a new direction for this fragile substrate of cork. Oh yeah - I don't like to use adhesives... I like staples and they worked perfectly here. This is a combination of inspiration, determination and a rock-solid support. Love these trees, too.

Kbtinyart_40_2008   This is Tiny Art 40. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by a trip away from home and a foray into a different life... it's about all of the things we need to keep up - to keep going. For me - that means painting, creating, loving, being, breathing, and so much more. I was reminded three times about a  circus - and juggling seemed entirely appropriate for this theme. Loved the bright and colourful balls. Still working on the craft mat paintings - I HAVE A LOT OF MATS NOW. Wow.

Kbtinyart_39_2008   This is Tiny Art 39. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by a fabric flower worn by the lovely Heather Bailey. I loved the shapes and colours. I was still swirling from a busy and overwhelming weekend in North Carolina and so many things were swimming around in my head waiting to settle. I loved her fabrics and her flowers and meeting her. It was very cool.

Kbtinyart_38_2008 This is Tiny Art 38. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by a couple of things; the paper is very textural, but not canvas; the colour red; and the feeling of deeply trusting someone. I was playing with reds - I'm more of a cool red person, but I have been trying to push myself into a warmer palette... it didn't work - because I used pencil crayons to bring back the cool tones I am comfortable in. Oh, and the message - was just a leftover warm fuzzy from something my sweet husband said. Love him.

Kbtinyart_37_2008      This is Tiny Art 37. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by a photo of a silhouetted plant of some sort... it looked to me like a woman gazing into the distance and in that moment there was a song - oh, the songs this week - that touched me. It made me think about the good and lucky and terribly-terribly important-to-me relationships that I cherish. Mmmm.... love. You are my no one else. You are.

Kbtinyart_36_2008 This is Tiny Art 36. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by the radio - of all things. I have been spending a lot of time in my Jeep driving around getting organized and the radio - the music - has been telling such emotional stories... I love a song that makes you feel the lyrics. I love that.

Kbtinyart_35_2008      This is Tiny Art 35. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by the happy mistake in Tiny Art 34 - the Fiskars cutting mat accidental painting. The texture is so velvety and wonderful to paint on. I needed to do more. I couldn't stop myself. I bought up all the cutting mats I could fine. It's just so perfeclty poetic. I have been putting a lot of thought into the Bulletproof Positive Attitude idea... and really - I am bulletproof because I HAVE TO BE. The alternative is to be shaken and fallen by the words and doubts of others and mine... I don't have the energy to get back up... I only want to paint and forget the rest. So therefore - this is me.  Up. I am bulletproof positive attitude - as I live and breathe. It's my only way.

Kbtinyart_34_2008     This is Tiny Art 34. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by by my Fiskars cutting mat sitting slightly too close to my paints. When I'm working on Tiny Art - I literally grab what's closest and paint on that. The cutting mat was closest and it has this smooth/rough texture that took the paint and still showed the cuts. I was hooked. I was also fighting the urge to paint everything orange... I had seen goldfish that day and their glittering gracefulness stuck with me. I was also struggling a bit with not getting as much accomplished as I hoped these days... I felt a little bit like the goldfish in the bowl... A little trapped and a little bit surprised by the treasure I found in painting on the craft mat. Man, the colours are amazing and the juxtaposition of the numbers and lines is very cool, too.

Kbtinyart_33_2008     This is Tiny Art 33. (click to enlarge). This piece was inspired by photography and photographers. With the digital age - there are so many people taking pictures... but, there are stil those chosen few who have the magic for finding the real beauty. I admire those people and I sometimes wonder what it is like to see through their eyes. Where does the real beauty lay?
