Well, yesterday felt like a bit of a whirlwind. (I love this picture of the horse sculpture.) I was all over the place. I'm not chained to my easel... but, I am working hard. I'm a girl on a mission. It was productive day and for that I'm grateful... seems sometimes you can't control what happens around you - so if I get a chance - I paint it out.
Tiarra Ramos of Purple Jade stopped in yesterday to pick up her passes for the show and to drop off some beautiful little gems for me to wear AT the show. She designs very cool earring made from butterfly wings. So beautiful. (Don't get your knickers in a knot - they are not harvested - they are collected after they die, used at the University for research and THEN Tiarra gets them.) No butterflies were harmed in the making of these COOL earrings. AND, I thought I would clarify about the "Give me Butterflies" title: Tiarra gives me tactile hold-in-your-hand butterflies and Dan gives me the good kind of happy-love-whooooo butterflies. Not the other way around.
I headed out to a meeting with Habitat for Humanity, but before I got there I stopped in a pet store called: Style N' Paws. I like to spontaneously drop in on pet stores to see if they carry Lucky Dog Biscuits. Thank goodness, these guys DO. (A++) AND they are not a pet store - they are a dog dog spa. They had really great bowls from WetNoz that I have wanted for a long time - so I treated myself (and Crash). I met the beautiful Isabella the white boxer and had a nice chat with Tiffany Taverner who owns this great place. I think I should take Crash. Very cool.
My meetings were great. I whizzed
home to get back to work. AND WORK I DID. There's not much to report because I was locked in the basement painting until Dan got home to rescue me. That's a long time. LuAnn, Sarah/Judy, and Bonnie. Check it out. These paintings are still waiting for the words to be applied - BUT, they are coming along. 9 to go. My new dilemma is which shoes to paint. I only need to do 9 more to hit my target. BUT, I have MORE than 9 pairs left and some of the pairs are nicer/better stories than some of the paintings I did in the beginning.
Dan and I got outside for a walk on the frozen river with the dog. It's so beautiful. It's amazing how much longer it stays light out now. I love that. In a few short months it will be spring! I can't wait to pull the kayaks out and get back on the water.
Show update: Things are coming along. 9 paintings left to finish. Dan has attacked inventory control, magnets, books, and all things NOT painting. He's even making a radical sign for outside the building. I've really got to get on the interior signage pieces. They've got to go to print in 9 days. All these numbers! I'll be on The Big Breakfast (CityTV) on March 6th at Candie&Dolls. That's cool. Everything keeps moving.
Today: I have two paintings on deck to finish and they are TOUGH (Connie Tamoto that's YOU). So, if I get them done - then this will be a marvelous day. I've gotta get to Artists Emporium to pick up more canvas. That's it. I've been keeping my schedule as free as possible just to paint. I love it. I thought I should mention that, too. I'm taking it all in and appreciating what's at work here.
Note: I'm going to be sending out an email invitation today. I think today's the day to get a good spread on the word. Could you tell someone about the show for me? I'm really worried that I won't have good enough attendance and I need some help networking this. Tell someone about the show. Get in touch with me - I'll get you passes. Come and see me on March 8th. It would mean a lot.
It really would.
