Finally. FINALLY. Finally, my Starbucks cup had a message I could get behind. This message - this is me. This is the COOL part about being on this planet. Really. One day I was standing at the park watching my dog fetch a ball past some guy I didn't know - and the next moment was a series of really cool moments that brought me all the things that made my life immeasurably better. One word was the difference. (The quote is by Augusten Burroughs.)
I've been in a bit of a funk. A fog. I got stuck under a pile of things to do and I totally just 'possumed out. I sort of rolled over maybe thinking if I played dead the really big overwhelming feeling would bypass me. It didn't - but, then again - it's really not supposed to.
Yesterday sucked because sweet little Pilot was sporting a fever and a sad, sad little cry that made me want to just scoop her up and cry too. But, yesterday was also really terrific because we hung out and got a little closer. We got a new car, too. We got football tickets for Thursday night. We got a babysitter so we could go to the game. We got visitors! We got great news via mail. We got treated with unbelievable kindness from a good person and good friend. We totally grew together as a family. And that's cool.
AND, I got to paint. Oh, I love to paint. (If you're waiting for a Tiny Art Lady from me - I'm back on the Lady-train. That feels good.) THAT WAS THE TICKET ALL ALONG. THAT'S WHAT WAS MISSING when all the things-to-do cropped up. Like a big exhale in my heart.
Today: Crash, Pilot and I are headed to the dogpark to walk and share with Dana and Duke. I have a series of important things to do to keep life ticking along. IT'S BOOK CLUB TONIGHT (I've been getting the date of the party wrong for weeks now) AND I'M ALL READY. I'm on the prowl for a babysitter/nanny type person to come in to mind Pilot a few hours a week during the day so that I can paint. I'm not sure how to make that happen - but, I usually accomplish what I set my mind to... I really do.
Terrific day on the horizon. I can sense it. Say 'hi' to someone. Let's GO!
