Hit in the face with a summer epiphany.
Hey Monday - thank you from the bottom of my most grateful heart for the awesome weekend. Dan was away for a boys-only-stag-fishing weekend... which meant that Pilot and I had to entertain each other. I wasn't sure that I'd be able to go the whole weekend without a break and without someone to talk English to. BUT WE TOTALLY HAD A BLAST! Pilot was good to me. Actually - she was extraorindarily wonderful. We did not have any meltdowns from each-other-overload and we even managed to TAKE A NAP IN THE SAME BED (much to my delight because she prefers to hang in her crib by herself for naps). So awesome, so appreciated, SO GLAD THAT DAN IS BACK NOW, too. I tried to introduce her to the finer points of a girls-weekend. SPA ACTIVITIES.
Cute. AND, as I was organizing my photos last night I realized that there were only three pictures of Pilot and I together for the month of June - these two dorky cucumber shots and this one from a few weeks ago...
So new photos will be on our list of things-to-do-before-the-month-is-over (this list is getting quite long!).
I also had an epiphany during out girl time: SUMMER IS HERE AND IT'S SHORT. I don't know why I never realized this before - but, this weekend it hit me square in my pasty white legs and I decided that I have FOUR MEGA-PRIORITIES FOR THE NEXT THREE MONTHS: Great family moments & Tiny Art Ladies & three new pieces of art & holy-crap-GET-A-PEDICURE-ALREADY.
Great Family Moments: In 9 weeks it will be September. Yes. So that means there are 63 days to squash in lakes and beaches and bike rides and evening walks... trips to the park, laying on the blankets, kiddie pool splashing and popsicles. And to photograph it all. I am making it my mandate to slow down and chill out before winter takes over again. I don't take a lot of down time but, THIS SUMMER seems like the perfect time to start.
Tiny Art Ladies: I have a LOT of these to go and my apologies. I got tangled up in some SHOULD-DO's that really weren't as important as I thought - then we all got sick - and I got all off track. I got discombobulated. I want to have all of the Tiny Art Ladies finished AS WELL AS THE TINY ART LADY BOOK by July 31st. AND. I sincerely apologize for the delay - you have not been forgotten. Your stories are, in fact, running through my brain non-stop.
Three new pieces of art: YES. This is the other thing that ties in with summer... because time for myself is at a premium and time for painting is at a premium - I've arranged for a nanny that's going to create some painting time. Three full size paintings is a wee little number for me... but, I want a nice easy-breezy goal that I can achieve without cutting into the other mega-priorities around here.
A Pedicure: I have tremendously ugly feet and 'tis the season of flip flops. Enough said.
Today: Aloha today. We have to go grocery shopping and drop off a print for Candra. I have been promising to drop in on her for about 6 weeks and I am afraid she will punch me in the face if I don't get there soon. I want to send my photos off to be printed - so that will warrant a trip to the mall. We're off on a long walk so that we can pop into Starbuck's for a vanilla latte AND GET THE DOG SOME EXERCISE, too. I need new flip flops and Dan has threatened to take my favourite jeans away if I don't go find myself SOME SHORTS (hey - I have chicken legs!). I want to buy some hanging baskets full of flowers and see just how many days it will take to kill them - not on purpose that's just how it works with me and flowers.
Three cheers for a SLOW SUMMER DAY like today! Go

yikes, summer IS short. Good reminder! thanks.
And these Pilot & you pics are scrumptous! Love the cucumbers! :) Happy Monday!

Thanks for the reminder about summer. Your legs can only get brown if you let the sun see them...another epiphany! :) *** Awesome pix of Pilot--as always you can almost feel her softness. Would please tell me what setting your camera is on for those?

You take such good pictures. How do you get the white background of you and Pilot sitting on the floor?

Love all the photos today. Love that Pilot and you had a great grrrrls weekend. Love that Pilot got so excited about being tossed in the air, her mouth opened to let out squeals and the pacifier fell to the curb (hey, EVERYONE should have something that makes them that happy!), and love those wide, wide "WHAT?!?!" eyes that are going to get her out of ANY trouble later. Enjoy your short summer -- I know you'll make the most of your 63 days!
