Hi Monday. Above: a study for a larger painting I want to do someday: Penn has been on my mind a lot lately. Her sleeping patterns are out of whack and I feel this overwhelming need to help her figure it out because I know how tired she's making ME - and she's gotta feel somewhere near the same lack-of-sleep-insanity and it sucks. And she's way too sweet to feel crappy. I spent a good chunk of my time yesterday thinking about her and finding some quiet space to cherish her and focus on the goodness and sweetness she totally embodies... because I am the first to admit that three months of shitty sleep has me pretty much biting everybodies heads off around here. And forgetting things. And finding myself a little lost and bewildered. And sometimes sad. This too will pass, this too shall pass, this will all go by so quickly that I do not want to forget, in the mean time, just how awesome she is...
Dear Penn: seriously. SLEEP CHILD. Sleep long and hard - SLEEP ALL NIGHT LONG - so you can keep growing and keep smiling and keep reminding us just how cool it is to have two really, really sweet little girls in our arms every day. We are so lucky and I know it. You remind me every single day to look at you just a little bit longer and to listen to you a little more patiently. And to hold you just a little bit tighter and to show you just a few more moments of love. And to try my darndest to make you laugh (because it's hard). You are such a gift. You are a bit of a night time LUNATIC AS WELL. xoxo
Some black + white illustrations coming this week. They're fun.
Welcome to the world and THREE CHEERS for baby Harper Holtslag! Congrats guys!
It's my goal to accomplish 3 pieces of Tiny Art this week (maybe that will motivate me).
My email is not working so I'm working on that, too.
Today: Dan has the day off so we are going adventuring to Lake Manitoba in search of our friends and their nice, shallow, lake front cottage and cute kids for some swimming and relaxing in the sun. And maybe a beer or two. Sweet. (And I am finally cleared to drink full on coffee - so make mine a double, please.)
GO!
