PHOTOS! About a week ago I freaked out after three of my attempts to capture a family photo of the four of us FAILED miserably. Remotes, timers, bribes. It didn't matter what I did. PURE SUCKAGE. It was awful. Tears. Crying. Fighting. Our neighbour happens to be a fabulously talented photographer (here + here) so I sweet talked her into taking some shots (she's ALSO pregnant with her third and we are due days apart!). ONE SHOT was all I was jonesing for. Just something where I could look back and go 'oh, yeah! 2010 was a blur - I hardly remember it BUT LOOK AT HOW CUTE MY FIRST TWO KIDS WERE!' Because they totally are. Anyways. Rachael agreed and off we went one blissful winter morning for about 20 minutes. Penn was a grouch. Pilot started crying for the last 3 minutes. Dan got his squinty, blinky eyeballs on. I teared up in the bright snow and smudged the makeup I carefully applied to camoflauge my pregnant wide-face. AND I LOVE THEM. It's US right now on our new street with our new friend and our old best-ever season...
Rachael is awesome and I am now very, very, very happy to have photos of my favourite bunch in my favourite season. That are also happy. And fun. And I AM IN THEM. There are so many more than just these ones. I also wanted to mention that I keep linking Rachael to LuckyGirl (which is her wedding photography business). BUT these should be linked to HeyKiddo which is the babies, kids, families photography business that she owns/runs with her uber talented photography partner Mairen (that I am hoping to meet soon!). BUSY LADIES. Thank you Rachael! (All images here by Rachael King Johnson.)
I love the moustaches. Too funny. Pilot started crying and Penn tried to eat them. (Yup. That's about how we roll.) Terrific idea! (Moustaches from WiskerWorks on esty.com) This photo makes me smile because Baby3 is sitting on my lap.
WHAT I LEARNED FROM THIS EXPERIENCE: get photos done. Get them done regularly. Get someone else to take them. Seeing your family WITH YOU IN IT - is really cool. Book now. This is a worthy investment.
OK. So Rachael did NOT okay this, but her funny photos inspired me to put together a couple of holiday cards for ourselves. Vote for your favourite....
PINK or BLUE? Leave me a comment and I will pick a couple of random winners for some holiday-esque treats tomorrow at noon.
Today: We are going to play in the snow and make more cookies and come up with a master list of what the next 30 days will hold because my holiday craft projects are getting more and more out of control. OH! We also need to plan some birthday parties. Someone is turning 3! Someone is turning 30! Someone is going to be born. Someone will be 2! I'm not any of those so I guess I have my work cut out for me.
GO!
