This week challenged me in a few ways creatively. Morally. Ethically. The little graphic above that says "be true to who you are" is on an adventure around the internet and bringing me goodies and not-so-goodies. Because of that I have been tossing around some questions in my head and taking a bit of a breather...
I am mulling over the answers to these questions:
Once an image (art, photograph, type, etc) is uploaded to the internet - does it become free game?
Is it okay to post someone elses art or photos without permission? What about with a credit? Do lines get blurred with things like Tumblr and Pinterest? Is it okay to print and sell another artists work without their knowledge or consent? As the artist - do you take that as a compliment or do you fight for yourself? Are you mad? Are you humbled? Are you tired of the same battle? As the artist - what would you do?
[Edited: I LOVE Pinterest and this post is NOT AT ALL about Pinterest. Pin away! Please do not stop pinning. (Permission is not needed and the links are retained for Pinterest. I love that.) For the artist - exposure is good. Very good. This post is mostly about image usage and I can eloborate in a few days time. I was just curious how others felt about it and wanted to bring art + the internet to the discussion table. What's your opinion?]
More on this and MORE ART to follow. Leave me your thoughts. Please.
Today: I have a lot to do and not as much time as I need. That's not new. But what is new is a rejuvenated sense of fitness and making time to exercise. I need it. And I better get at it.
GO!
