It has been unseasonably warm here. So warm, that the sun's heat and melting snow have added up to what can only be described as the magic of spring. It's hard to describe, but in my mind it feels like I imagine it would to be a brown bear awoken after a long hibernation. To crawl out of your den. To feel the sun on your face. To stretch your arms to the sky. And to look around with new eyes. It's like that. The warm temperatures bring people outside. In droves. Neighbours wave to each other and call out greetings and commentary on the sunshine. People smile and abandon their down filled jackets. Rubber boots replace the fur lined kind and faces hidden by scarves are traded for sparkling smiles.
It's refreshing. The girls are the perfect ages to feel the shift, too. All of a sudden outside is where it's at. Oh, there's still plenty of snow + plenty of days before we can pull out the flip flops BUT THERE ARE PUDDLES. And I don't have the heart to keep small people out of the freezing cold puddles of water. It's a childhood memory and it's part of the magic of spring. Even if you get a booter.
I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR:
- spontaneous dinners with friends
- happy, healthy kids
- funny pups
- a moment to breathe
- a sister-in-law who is such a good friend
- time offline
- colourful rubber boots
- neighbours
- connecting
- an adorable husband
- fresh perspective
I am winter's biggest fan but the change is welcome. With pure joy. The unseasonable happiness is needed here. I need this change.
Today: is out of the ordinairy. I am meeting about a painting that will be an incredible honour to create. Without saying too much before the details are figured - 'Love is better than anger' and I am SO inspired. Welcome back, Spring.
GO!
