I love painting. I love painting more than I love doing anything else. I taught myself how to paint when I was a kid. And the lucky little pip squeak that I was - my parents always made sure I had lots of art supplies and opportunities. I took 'drawing' lessons for a while - but painting has always been just me and my brushes making it up as we go along.
Truth: The palette I'm holding is my very first traditional palette. I got it a month ago because it was in the reduced to clear bin and I figured that everyone that calls themself a "painter" should have one. That beast WORKS LIKE A CHARM and it's kind of amazing. Go figure!
ON LIFE + PAINTING. I believe it's a big part of my life's work and along the way it has taught me three amazing lessons that I turn to often:
- Don't think. Just do.
- Don't think. Keep doing.
- Don't think. Do.
It's not rocket science. It's awesome.
Today: I've got appointments in the morning, but the afternoon is reserved for YOU GUESSED IT: painting. I'm working very hard to clear my schedule and settle in to a lifetime routine of painting daily. And painting furiously. I plan to paint my brains out because the docs tell me the clock is ticking for these paws. AND ANOTHER thing I have learned from painting is that although it's never cured a broken heart - it certainly soothes them.
