Painting is, to me, a little bit like I imagine flying to be. Updrafts and down swoops. You have to jump in and believe in yourself. And trust the process. It doesn't always look right off the hop. But you look past it. You push through. You soldier on. Because you know where you're trying to go. I used to feel uncomfortable in paint because, let's face it, paint is harder to control.
It's not so much that I've gotten better at the technicalities of painting... just a heck of a lot better at embracing the discomfort of having everything completely under control.
It's a character flaw more than a technical skill.
