We sported some party dresses yesterday to celebrate the arrival of May (and my brother Kam's birthday!). WE DON'T DO THIS EVERY DAY, but we should. Dressing nice and 'suggesting' they sit nicely together typically has disasterous/hilarious results. Perfectly happy kids turn into disagreeable grumps. They do. They can SENSE when I want to take photos... They can smell my fear and lately we've just agreed to to disagree about the importance of documenting life. We called a short truce yesterday and our results were pretty good. Most of these photos are keepers for me because they show who these little hearts truly are.
PILOT: She loves to LEARN. If there's a word, sign or list you need - she's on it. That girl can write + spell like a third grader and she's only four. She loves books + drawing. She's a bubbly + delightful big sister when she's not yelling, pushing or pouting. OH. She's got a TEMPER, but if I can figure out how to help her harness that energy I'm pretty sure she'll be a full on dazzler.
PENN: She'd crazy FUN. She insists that headbands are to be worn ninja-style. NO MATTER WHAT. I like that about her. I also like the fact that she rolls to her own beat and that beat is a little more like a freestyle drum solo than a steady march. She's unpredictable and sweet as heck. She's got a bounce in her step that's adorable and a mischievous streak that is a little worrisome. She's middle child magic all the way.
POET: Oh, SWEETNESS. She is serious + funny at the same time. She may be the smallest, but she's no pushover. MARK MY WORDS. She gets what she wants and she takes what she needs. She can melt you with her serious gaze and slay you with her hilarious laugh. She's cool, silly, bossy, and perfectly happy to play by herself for hours and hours. She's a daredevil and a sweet pea all rolled into one.
(If you follow me on Instagram - you saw the funny outtakes from this photo attempt. Thank you Paulette for the sweet dresses - it's finally warm enough to wear them! Yay!)
Goodbye tax season. Goodbye April. Goodbye deadlines + coughs. Goodbye teeting babies + sleepless nights. Goodbye April.
Hello May! (We are a day early, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE KAM!!)
Today: Pilates + painting. I'm very, very excited to have a pilates session this morning with my favourite teacher of all time. She's in town and I am in desperate need of instruction to get me back on track - AND TO WELCOME MAY. I am hoping for great things this month. Coffee first!
GO!
